Literary Week Assembly, classes VIII and IX
Great literature is simply language, charged with meaning. The beauty of all literature is that we discover that all our longings are universal longings, that we are not lonely and isolated from anyone. We belong!
To begin with the literary week, the students of classes 8 and 9 showcased their presentations on 24 April, 2014. Keeping in sync with the theme of the year- The Western Coast of India, the show began with the department of English.
Soumya Saxena of class 9 recited the poem Night of the Scorpion, written by the famous Indian Poet, Nissim Ezekiel. Bhoomika Narang of class 9 recited another poem, by Gieve Patel, On Killing A Tree. This poem was also strongly connected to Earth Day, which waCEO served at our School with great enthusiasm on 22 April, 2014.

The poetry recitation was followed by a power point presentation by Spenta and Simonal Jussawala of class 9, on the Parsee community in India. A community who arrived on the west coast of India and integrated invaluably amongst the peoples of western India. They not only assimilated what they saw but have, over the centuries, returned as it were, greatly to the communities they came to.
An interesting inter-house literary quiz was conducted by Sonakshi Sharma and Mehar Kaur of class 11, followed by a Hindi quiz, which was conducted by Priyanka, Simran and Rhythm of class 9. The quiz was won by Indra House with 100 points, followed by Chandra House with 80 points, Varun House with 75 points and Surya House with 60 points.
This interactive quiz was followed by a presentation by the department of French. Khushi Nagpal of class 8 gave the recipe of the French dish Croquembouche, to present the links between the western coast of India and France. There was a short presentation by Bhavika Sharma and Diksha Wadhwa of class 9, about the French history of Gujarat.
An invigorating morning of presentations came to end with a short and beautiful enactment of the play Postmaster, written by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
Also, to contribute towards spreading greater sensitivity towards our environment, the most awaited, green classroom for the academic session 2013-14 was named! An initiative by the Citizenship team of our School, classes 8-D and 9-C were declared green classrooms! Congrats!
