Memorable winter excursion to Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh and Chittorgarh

A four-day winter excursion to Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh, and Chittorgarh from 2 to 6 January 2024 was indeed an enriching and culturally immersive experience for the 33 students of class IX and their accompanying teachers.

The journey began with the group’s arrival at Udaipur on the Mewar Express, setting the tone for an exciting adventure. The lodging arrangements at the Udai Bagh Resort provided a serene atmosphere, and the itinerary kicked off with visits to Saheliyon Ki Bari and the City Palace. The students were captivated by the picturesque landscapes and historical architecture, making the most of the opportunity to explore and capture memories with their friends and teachers.

The first day concluded on a high note with an engaging DJ night at the resort, setting the stage for a memorable trip. The second day brought a bus journey filled with joy, as students enjoyed the scenic route to the Kumbhalgarh Fort, accompanied by their favourite songs and Antakshri games. A knowledgeable guide enlightened them about the historical significance of the fort, including its 36 km long wall and numerous temples. The visit was an opportunity for students to appreciate the courage and valour of the Rajput rulers.

The stop at the government emporium on the way back to the resort provided the students with a unique opportunity to explore and purchase souvenirs, as they browsed through a diverse range of items such as handwoven textiles, traditional jewellery, pottery, and other local crafts. This experience not only allowed them to bring home tangible memories of their trip but also supported local artisans and the cultural economy of the region.

The day’s cultural evening, featuring the traditional dance form Ghoomar, added a touch of Rajasthan’s cultural richness. The performance by two local dancers, was a breathtaking experience for the students, showcasing the traditional dance, including a dance over broken glass pieces!

The final day included a halt at the famous Fateh Sagar Lake and a visit to Chittorgarh Fort, where a tour guide shared the rich history of the fort and narrated the poignant story of Rani Padmini. Students also explored the Sri Krishna Temple, The Sun Temple, and the Shiv Temple, gaining valuable insights into the vibrant history of the unique fort.

The trip successfully blended historical exploration, cultural immersion, and leisure, adhering to the concept of ‘edutainment’ followed by The Indian School. Beyond the academic aspect, the initiative aimed at fostering camaraderie among students and creating lasting memories. The journey served as a platform for holistic development and cultural appreciation, supplementing the students’ overall learning experience.

The Indian School’s educational tour to Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh, and Chittorgarh was a resounding success, providing students with a profound understanding of the rich cultural tapestry and historical significance of the region.
