Money matters
A special orientation cum training workshop on Financial Education was held on 26 November, 2014 in the School AV room for 91 aspirants of the National Financial Literacy Assessment Test ( NFLAT) from classes VIII to X.
The National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE) conducts the National Financial Literacy Assessment Test (NFLAT) annually to motivate students of classes VIII to X to learn concepts of finance and also to measure their financial awareness. The objective is to help them acquire an important life skill at an early age leading to sound financial decisions later. NCFE has been set up by the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) with the support of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), thSecurities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) and the Forward Markets Commission (FMC).

Dr. Sunita Gupta, Associate Professor of Commerce, Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, conducted this workshop. She has received a national award for her excellent work in the area of spreading financial education among the young citizens of the country. She motivated this set of enthusiastic participants to explore the various types of accounts at banks, savings and investment instruments and the regulatory framework in India.
The session was also attended by faculty members from the Social Science and Commerce departments of our School, namely Ms Pooja Bahl, Ms. Sangita Verma, Ms. Veena Ajay Kumar and Ms. Sanghamitra Bhattacharya.
