National Progressive Schools' Conference on 22.07.2013
I was given an opportunity to attend the National Progressive Schools Conference on 20.07.2013 alongwith Mr. Rajiv Massey and Ms. Mona Sachdeva ( PTA Rep. of 10-C). This conference was organized by CBSE and DLF Public School, Ghaziabad for the parent community of over 50 schools across Delhi and NCR, to further strengthen the system.
The opportunity gave parents an opportunity to have an interface with Mr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman CBSE and Dr. Sadhana Parashar- Director (Research, Academics and Training), CBSE. This initiative aimed to help explore the possibilities of creating a group of parent-advocates who will be able to share information, with understanding and belief in basic principles of CCE, with the general parent community at large.
Since the weather was bad, the organizers had cut down the duration of the meeting. The meeting was in the form of a question-answer session of almost an hour. Many questions were put forward by parents regarding the CCE. Some of them were:
1.PSA test for Class 9
2.Open text test
3.Question paper levels of Class 10
4.Percentage pass in FAs and SAs
5.Importance of co-scholastic areas, etc.
This meet was an opportunity for me to equip better about the CCE and it's recent developments. CCE is a genuine example to change practices from exam-centered learning to ongoing assessments which will bring in change and lead successfully to child-centered learning.
