Nursery Orientation 2018

An orientation for the parents of students admitted to Pre-School was held on 13th April, 2018.

As customary, the event was to welcome and familiarise our new parents with the philosophy of our School and the spirit underlying our methodology.

Parents arrived on time for the occasion and were welcomed by the Senior School band with a bouquet of some wondrous musical renderings.

Colourful tables abundant with scrumptious refreshments were laid out section wise and the parents were invited to help themselves as they enthusiastically interacted with the class teachers and their peers of the section.

As dusk fell, parents were ushered to the auditorium where the School Indian music teachers soulfully sang the customary Diya Jalao hymn as each set of parents lit a diya, symbolic of a little life entrusted to learning. The musical notes woven together by the harmonium, tabla and the flute, mellifluously lifted the occasion to a delicately joyous and yet solemn height. At the end of 14 years, when the children leave School as young adults, the diyas will be handed to them, so that they, now well armed, can step out to light up the world.

The little diyas placed by the parents in the slots on a wide metal stand gleamed bright and upright and the image of 200 odd little flames on the arms of an unseen stand, was utterly uplifting.

Head teacher, Pre primary, Ms. Ritu Singh welcomed the parents as they sat down, sharing the curriculum and strategies of holistic development of the students at our School. She then invited our Principal, Ms. Tania Joshi who also offered some valuable tips on the role of parents in development of the child.

Our Vice Chairperson, Dr. Nayana Goradia then addressed the the audience. Notably Dr. Goradia said the we must prepare our children to meet global challenges and simultaneously ensure that they imbibe and retain their Indian Sanskaras.

Ms. Sangeeta Aswani, Citizenship Coordinator introduced the audience to the Citizenship Programme. She explained that the programme seeks to empower our future citizens with life skills which will take them beyond academic milestones and lay a foundation for compassion, commitment, respect and resourcefulness in community life.

Vedant and Sriyah of class 5 compered the final part of the evenings programme. As we bid goodbye to last years School theme, Africa, students of pre-primary and class 1 enacted a story of famous African folklore- the Tinga Tinga Tales,

The little ones carried their costumes with aplomb and did not miss a step. The audience could not stop marvelling at the poise!

The evening concluded with the teachers choir singing the School Song, making for an auspicious beginning to a long and precious collaboration.
