Pre-primary Yoga Exhibition
Yoga, a spiritual discipline, including breathing and exercises, is widely practised for health and relaxation. Yoga in Sanskrit actually means union. No guesses there,it is a union of the body, mind and soul, practised and streamlined by our ancientrishisand yogis.
It was wonderful to see our budding Indianites follow detailed instructions and focus their minds toperforma string ofasanas. All the students of thePP departmentenjoytheir yoga classesa great deal and over the year some do their yoga better than the others! 20February, 2013 was our day to salute the budding yogis!
It was a beautiful morning with rain- washed skiesandagentle breeze blowing. The exhibition was to be held in our basketball court, which was looking specially spruced up. The grey carpeting covered a third of the court, laid out especially for our young yogis from each section in 2 class groups; pre-primary and preschool.

ThePre-primaryclass representatives performed the SuryaNamaskar in 12 steps with a great eye to each detail, followed by theBhujang,Parvat,Titli,ArdMatsaya, Aeroplane andNav. The senior teachers were so overwhelmed by the suppleness and excellent co ordination achieved by our delightful students! Their teachers encouraged them along with their classmates who were spectators seated on the steps.Upon conclusion, the pre-primary representatives departed to put on their shoes in an orderly manner while their classmates lead the way back to class.
The preschool studentsthen enteredin an orderly manner in their bright and jolly red tracks, and seated themselves on the spectator- steps. Therepresentatives took off their shoes and filed up sectionwise to come up on the carpet. They started with theGayatriMantra and then commenced their spectacular array ofasanas,age- appropriate and endearing!,Chakki, Cradle,Mandook,Simha,Veer, andVajrawere some of theasanas, meticulously performed, withfocus and discipline.
It was truly inspiring towatch;in fact it was so effective that the primary classes who were having their games period, were inspired to smarten up and apply their full earnest and discipline to their physical fitness class!
