Pre school offers rich homage to the spirit of India on Republic Day

Freedom in the mind, conviction in words, pride in our hearts, memories in our souls, a salute to our nation on Republic Day.

The Pre-Schoolers of The Indian School celebrated the 73rd Republic Day with immense patriotic fervour on the online platform. A plethora of activities were organised to infuse the spirit of unity, brotherhood and patriotism among the students.

The celebrations began with a presentation The Flavours of India' on 21 January 2022. The young Indianites presented popular delicacies of the different states and described their flavours, ingredients, colours etc. Suhani of PS Kokab presented idli, sambhar and chutney, Srimoyee described the Bengali machher jail relished with rice, Anwita took Bihars Litti Chokha, while Gursahej presented Punjabs makki ki roti and sarso ka saag.

Harsh Vardhan Sharma presented the dal bati cCmhurma, Armaan spoke about Orissas favourite sweetmeat, the Chenna Poda, Niddhyana presented Assams Dohi Seera which is specially prepared on Bihu. Aiza takked about the rasogulla and sandesh, Anvi took up Keralas Puttu and even showed how it is made, as Veer showcased the dhokla, thepla, khakra and kadhi from Gujarat!

Anika of PS Delphini presented Himachal's famous Khatta Chana and Rice, Aaiz Misbah showed the Peda and Petha of Uttar Pradesh, and Mehr Kaur presented national sweet of India- the Jalebi!

Aditya of PS Hercule presented Litti Chokha from Bihar, Kinza took up Shahi Tukda- a sweet delicacy from Lucknow, Aarav Bhutani spoke about bhelpuri, a speciality of Mumbai, while Saanvi Raj presented the streetfood vada pao from Maharashtra.

Mehar of PS Agena presented idli sambhar, Sarwagya spoke about Tamil Nadus Puli Pongal, Roohani shared Uttarakhands famous Maduye ki roti and Bhaang ki chatni, while Divyansh presented Punjabs makki ki roti and saag

The children learnt the national anthem in class and were taught the value of always standing erect and to attention, when the anthem is played or sung.

Republic Day marks the constitution of India and to give the students a better understanding of the rights and duties of citizens, each section of Preschool put together their own ' constitution' where the children were ushered to discuss and then put down all the important things they felt should be a part of it.

The Republic Day special assembly was held on 25 January 2022. It started with Aavya of PS Hercule sharing the significance of Republic Day. Ariz of PS Delphini played prime minister, Mr. Modi and Ridhyansh of PS Kokab played President Kovind. A tribute to the three armed forces was paid by Yuvaan of PS Hercule, Samyak of PS Capella and Kiyara of PS Agena who represented the Army, Navy and Airforce Chiefs respectively.

India is a land of unity in diversity. Keeping this in mind the Pre schoolers dressed in vibrant traditional costume presented a folk dance. They were also taught to draw the tri colour and told the significance of each colour. The assembly concluded with Zyaan of PS Delphini singing the national anthem.
