Sahitya Aaj Tak Hindi Literary Festival
On 25 November 2023, 6 students of class VIII along with their teacher, Ms. Kajal Soni, attended India’s largest Hindi literature festival organised by Sahitya Aaj Tak at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. The event, spanning three days from 24 to 26 November 2023, was a vibrant celebration of literature, hosting renowned authors, poets and intellectuals from across the country.
The students of The Indian School actively engaged in two literary sessions on 25 November 2023 namely Shailesh Lodha’s Show – ‘Hindi Kavita Ka Show Man’ and ‘Kabira Yeh Ghar Prem Ka… Ek Sham Kabir Ke Naam’ by Shabnam Virmani.
During the first session, Mr Shailesh Lodha delved into various aspects of his life, sharing poignant anecdotes from his childhood and narrating his personal struggles. His narrative focused on instilling a sense of pride in being an Indian and emphasised the importance of embracing one’s roots. Mr Lodha’s storytelling resonated deeply with the audience, particularly the youth, as he wove motivational messages into his anecdotes, inspiring the younger generation to pursue their dreams with determination. The session offered a blend of entertainment and enlightenment, leaving the audience, especially the students, inspired and enlightened.
Another captivating session attended by the students at the Sahitya Aaj Tak Literature Festival was Ms Shabnam Virmani’s soul-stirring presentation titled ‘Kabira Yeh Ghar Prem Ka… Ek Sham Kabir Ke Naam.’ Ms Shabnam Virmani, renowned artist known for her deep exploration of Kabir’s poetry and philosophy, took the audience on a mesmerising journey through the verses of the legendary saint-poet. The session left an indelible impression on the students. Her passionate delivery and profound understanding of Kabir’s philosophy captivated the audience, fostering a deeper appreciation for the richness of Indian spiritual and literary heritage.
The literature festival was a platform brimming with intellectual exchanges and cultural vibrancy. The experience at the festival proved to be immensely enriching for the students and their teacher. They gained exposure to a wide spectrum of literary forms, diversified their literary perspectives and fostered a deeper appreciation for the power of words.
