It was a yet another delightful experience in edutainment on 9 July 2021, when the students of class IA, engaged in a Skype session with their counterparts at The Rare Talent School, in Nigeria. The young participants from Nigeria were accompanied by their teacher Mr. Amalike James.
Active exchange among the students resulted in an exposure to unfamiliar cultures, as each side shared details of their cultures and way of life.
The little ones in Nigeria informed their Indian friends that the official language of their country is English and that Ibibio is their regional language. They translated a few words in Ibibio, much to the delight of the Indianites. Our children listened in rapt attention to the translations. It was a joy to watch them trying to pick up pronunciations of words like Ssng, which means Thank you, Amedi /Emedi, the word for welcome and keenam o, meaning well done!
Our students were more than happy to shoulder the responsibility of acquainting their Nigerian friends with the Indian national symbols, cuisines, and historical monuments.
Sara, Vihaan, Debarita, Md. Zaid, Aleena, Rishika, Huzaifa, and Dhwani gave an insight into our countrys incredible history and culture by speaking about our national symbols, explaining how they represent a host of objects that paint a unique identity about the countrys sensibilities.
Avyaan, Nitya and Madhav exuded pride and confidence as they shared information about the iconic Indian monuments like the Taj Mahal, the Qutub Minar and the Hawa Mahal, among other monuments that speak volumes of Indias glorious heritage.
Details about some of Indias favourite gastronomic delights like Litti Choka, Pav Bhaji, Idli Sambar, and sweets like Jalebi and Rasgulla were explained by Nyra, Navya, Aprajita, Divisha,
Savitri and Dev. One could make out the interest it created among the curious virtual audience.
The enlightening and unforgettable conference allowed the young learners to experience a new culture and language, making learning more exciting and memorable.
The session infused excitement and enthusiasm in the students as they looked forward to another such opportunity to connect with the outside world and enhance their understanding of people from different parts of the globe.
