Special Assembly on Diwali by classes 8 and 9
On 16 October 2025, the students of classes VIII and IX organised a vibrant and thoughtful Diwali assembly that not only celebrated the spirit of the festival but also emphasised environmental awareness and knowledge enrichment. The assembly commenced with a brief talk by Simar Arora and Kavya Joshi of class IX A, on the significance of Diwali, highlighting its spiritual and cultural importance as a festival that symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
Coincidentally, the day also marked World Dictionary Day. To commemorate this, Mihir Pareek of class IX A, delivered an insightful presentation on the history of dictionaries, showcasing the evolution of language tools through an engaging PowerPoint presentation. Next, Prerna of class IX A captivated the audience with a heartfelt poem on Green Diwali, promoting the message of celebrating Diwali in an eco-friendly manner, without harming the environment.
Following this, the students of class VIII presented a thought-provoking skit titled “Diwali: Then and Now”. The skit portrayed the contrast between traditional and modern-day celebrations, emphasising how the true essence of Diwali is gradually fading in the face of noise and pollution. The message was clear – a happy Diwali is possible without crackers.
Building on this theme, Arnav Gupta and Hervie Jain showcased an informative PowerPoint presentation on the meaning and significance of a Green Diwali, providing practical tips on how to celebrate safely and responsibly.
To make the session more interactive, Aaryan Sehgal of class IX A conducted an exciting quiz on Diwali, which tested the students’ knowledge about the history of the festival, traditions, and current environmental concerns.
Vice Principal Dr Anu Singh addressed the students, emphasising the importance of celebrating a “Green Diwali” and encouraging them to reconnect with traditional values. She urged students to embrace the true spirit of the festival by spending meaningful time with family and friends, participating in household preparations, spreading joy by sharing with those less fortunate and celebrating in an eco-friendly and responsible manner.
The assembly concluded with a signature campaign, where each student pledged not to burn crackers, showing their commitment to a cleaner, greener, and safer Diwali. The assembly was a wonderful blend of celebration and awareness, leaving everyone with a strong message – “Let’s light up lives, not the sky”.
