Special Assembly on Diwali by Pre school Capella.

Light is the harbinger of joy,

prosperity and eternal bliss of the soul

Lights illuminate every corner of India during Diwali and the scent of incense sticks hang in the air, mingling with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope. Diwali is a festival of joy and prosperity. It is the celebration of the victory of good over evil. On this auspicious occasion, Pre-school Capella presented a special assembly on 28th October 2016.

The celebration began with a narration and skit that unfolded the mythological tale of Diwali while highlighting some beliefs and customs associated with it. The children were told that Diwali marks the return of Lord Ram, Prince of Ayodhya, with Sita and brother Lakshman after 14 years of exile and after vanquishing the demon king, Ravan. The people of Ayodhya were so overjoyed on their return that they lit trains of oil lamps along the way of the royal trio, as a welcome.

Sreyanshi gave a brief introduction to the festival before the play began. In the play, Ruhaan played the role of Raja Dasharath, Devika played Rani Kaushalya, Avika played Rani Sumitra, Pranay played Prince Ram, Riaan played Prince Lakshman, Elina played Sita, Vinay played Prince Bharat, Rishabh played Prince Shatrughna and Shourya played Ravan. Each performance showed involvement. Each role was executed well and was able to portray the theme of good emerging victorious over evil.

During the assembly, the children pledged to forgo the bursting of crackers to keep the noise and air pollution levels low. A dance and song representing the spread of light and cheer followed, filling the mystical atmosphere with rhythm and symphony.

The aim of the assembly was to enhance the confidence and speaking skills of each child. Keeping this in mind, each of our children was trained to speak a few lines on the importance of Diwali and how we should celebrate it in an eco-friendly manner.

In the Liliput area, an ample floral rangoli was chalked across the floor as the children sat around busily filling up the designs traced carefully by their teachers for the purpose. They deftly picked up the differently coloured petals placed before them and cautiously laid them in the sections of the pattern. By and by, they looked on in their sweet amazement as a rich carpet emerged out of their efforts!

It really is quite possible to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly manner and still get to enjoy ones self!
