Special assembly on Guru Nanak Jayanti by Pre primary

Gurupurab marks the birth of the great Sikh guru, Guru Nanak. Our Pre Primary department conducted a virtual assembly to celebrate Gurupurab on 7th November 2022.

The special assembly spoke about the life and teachings of the great Guru. Vand Chhako, Kirat Karo, Naam Japo, Sewa Karo and Sarbat Da Bhala were some of these great values which were also explained through a PPT.

The tiny tots were also told about the teachings of Guru Nanak, through simple examples, such as helping the needy, being honest, respecting elders, etc. The Pre schoolers enthusiastically shared how they can apply these lessons of life in their own little ways by helping the elders in the family, serving food, fetching a glass of water, donating old books, clothes and toys to the poor etc.

Next was a presentation on the values of kar seva or selfless service- a tradition set with the clear understanding that there is God within us and by serving humanity we are serving God Himself. Videos on Guru Nanaks life and his spiritual journey were shown to the little students. They were also told about the Prabhat Pheri, Langar Sewa and the essence behind chanting the Akhand Paath.

A short quiz was also held for the young indianites, where they were to answer questions about the Golden Temple, the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, the year that Guru Nanak was born, etc. The enthusiasm amongst the children as they volunteered answers, was delightful to watch!

In the end, the holy Shabads were sung together by the teachers and the students leaving the occasion elevated.
