Special Assembly on Rakshabandhan by class IV-D

Class IV-D conducted a special assembly on 24 August 2018 to celebrate Rakshabandhan and to reflect upon the timeless relationship between brothers and sisters.

At the start, Divya and Prachi recited a poem on Rakshabandhan, Pyaar se jo mile aisa bandhan hai ye, Jiski karo raksha uss se sambandh hai ye!

Samiya, Nikhil, Krishna, Avni, Nishita, Rishitdeep and few other students spoke some lines on the significance of the festival and how the eternal bond between a brother and a sister is celebrated in India. Hibah shared the historical aspect of the festival which talks about the Hindu queen, Karnavati, sending a rakhi to Mughal emperor, Humayun, asking for his help against the invaders.

Aron narrated the story of Shishupal and Krishna in which Draupati tore off a piece of her saree and wrapped it around Krishnas finger, to bandage his bleeding wound. Krishna was touched by her gesture of devotion and promised to protect her from every trouble.

These stories inspire the festival where a symbolic thread ties together a brother and a sister in a lifelong bond of affection and care. The sister prays for her brothers well-being and the brother vows to protect her.

At our School, we believe that the bond binds the two equally. Both pledge to live and care for each other. Samaira and Vansh did a role-play to showcase this beautiful feeling of care and friendship between a brother and a sister and an equalness between them. Not only dis the brother tied a rakhi on his sisters wrist, the too did the same on the wrist of his sister.

The poem Neem was also recited by students of the class which was followed by a short interaction between the Head teacher and the students. The popular rakhi song Phoolon ka taaron ka lent a melodious conclusion to the assembly.
