Special Assembly on Rakshabandhan by Pre primary-Leo

Each festival offers an opportunity to bring together and bind people. Rakshabandhan is also one such, that celebrates the bond of brother and sister.

With its origin in the Mahabharata, this Hindu festival is observed in August. It is a day when siblings pray for each others' well-being and promise to protect each other.

This year Pre-primary-Leo presented a special assembly on Rakshabandhan on Wednesday, 17th August 2016. However it was Rakshabandhan with a difference!

The children came dressed in colourful ethnic wear and the girls and boys both tied rakhis, equally, on each others' wrists and promised to take care of each other. It was a bond of parity where the girls, equally undertook to protect their brothers as did the boys undertake to protect the girls. It was a joyous early lesson on gender equality!

Beautiful rakhis were handcrafted by the students with the help of their teachers for the occasion. The children also sang a special song Aaya Rakhi ka Tyohar and presented a dance to frame the festivity.
