Subject Orientation for stream selection in class 11

School organised a subject orientation programme for students of class X from 7:30 to 9 am on 17 January, 2019. The parents were also invited. The aim of this programme was to discuss the aspects of the different streams and the subjects that are offered in each stream in class XI.

The objective of the exercise was to orient the students in order that they be enabled to select the steam most suited to their aptitudes and capabilities. The orientation was therefore a blend of knowledge as well as counselling.

Principal, Ms. Tania Joshis began the session, reiterating the need for the children to recognise that it is very important to pursue the choice most suited to oneself. Not one guided by peers or even the aspirations of ones parents. She implored the parents to avoid imposing their choices on their children, but rather help them make the best choices.

The decision is an important one and therefore needs to be considered carefully. Subject experts spoke on the various topics, curriculi and its scope as relevant.

Vice-Principal, Dr. Anu Singh explained the significance of the science stream, its objectives, requirements and scope. She talked about the various choices available for careers in the government as well as in the private sector. Mr. Sabir Hussain spoke about the different career options available for students who wish to to pursue science with math. Ms. Simranjeet discussed the scope of science in medicine, aeronautics, engineering, dentistry etc.

Next Mr. Ramesh explained the aims and objectives of commerce and also the options available in the related through a power point presentation. He spoke about different career choices available like CA, ICWA etc. Vice-Principal, Ms. Sukhmeen Cheema then presented the opportunities in Psychology through a well-designed presentation. In the same way Engineering Graphics was discussed by Mr. Dutta, Humanities by Ms. Sangeeta Verma, Fashion Studies by Ms. Nita Kapur, Sociology by Ms. Swati and the Fine Arts by Ms. Garima Singh.
