Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at The National Science Centre
The National Science Centre in an attempt to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan organised a special event for school children. Students of classes III to V paid a visit to the Centre over several days to participate in this initiative. Class III comprising of 174 students went on 27th September, class IV with 183 students went on 29th September and class V with 143 students went on 30th September 2016.
At the Centre, a number of experiments connected with ensuring the purity of water were demonstrated to the students, including instruments to measure the PH of water According to the specialists at the centre, if the PH scale shows 7 points, it indicates that the water is neither acidic nor basic in nature. There was also a TDS meter which measured the purity of water and the presence of micro-organisms. To their delight, some children were called on stage to check and demonstrate the purity of the water in their water bottles!

They walked through the numerous galleries at the centre, namely, Emerging Technologies, Water: The Elixir of life, Information Revolution, Digital Information, Fun Science, Heritage Gallery, Prehistoric Life Gallery and the Human Biology Gallery, in which some extremely interesting models were exhibited. Students particularly enjoyed the Fun Science Gallery as it was filled with hands'-on exhibits explaining the fundamentals of science. They learnt about the evolution of Communication Technology, the Digital Information Revolution in India and Indias contribution to Science and Mathematics through the displays.
Some of our class IV students participated in a painting competition organised by the Centre on 29th September. The topic handed to them was Clean Surroundings-Happy Life.
