Whatever we plant in our sub-conscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality. The subconscious mind is a very powerful tool that comprises all our actions, thoughts, emotions and past experiences. However, we often neglect or misuse it.

So, as an effort to throw light on this vast topic and to realise its significance and relevance in our lives, a Psychology Symposium was also held at the Birla Vidya Niketan on the same day. The event started with a brief introduction of the judges, Dr. Sangeeta Bhatia, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Gargi College and Ms. Srija Dey, Clinical Psychologist at Max Hospital. This was followed by a token of appreciation for the judges. About 15 schools participated.

Each school had to first send their research papers on Our Subconscious Mind online, of which thirteen papers were shortlisted. The teams of those thirteen schools then had to come and present their research papers as a power point presentation. Each team had two participants.

Many aspects of the subconscious mind were touched upon and highlighted in the papers of the students, like the neurological basis of the subconscious mind, its historical overview, its association with dreaming as well as daydreaming, the significance of yoga and meditation and the parallels between the Indian and Western perception of the subconscious. Our School focused on the effect the subconscious has on our everyday lives, thus, our paper was titled The Magic of Our Subconscious Minds. Shivali Anand and Aayushi Sharma of Class XII represented our School.

Till the time the judges compiled the results after the presentations, a short quiz was also held. It was very informative and consisted of many interesting questions relating to Psychology. Prior to the prize distribution, the judges also spoke a few words. They highlighted the few mistakes that they noticed, so that we could work upon them. They also appreciated us all on our efforts and congratulated us on our wonderful presentations.

The first position was taken by Birla Vidya Niketan while Tagore International, East of Kailash took the second position and our School secured the third position.
