University Fair by British Council

It is very rightly said that the hope of a nation lies in the robust education of its youth. Education, indeed, is a powerful tool which can be used to bring about a change in the world. As we students, now get ready to leave behind our schoolbags, the classrooms and those books, to venture into a whole new world of possibilities, our School provides us with the opportunity of getting to know the plethora of choices available to us.

On 6th September 2016, our School organised a workshop by the British Council for the students of class XII. Four representatives of the four universities of the UK, namely, The Middlesex University, The University of Creative Arts, The NCUK and The University of Birmingham, joined for the workshop. They threw light on the courses offered in their universities, their fee structures and their scholarship criteria.

The Middlesex University provides a 20% scholarship to students and it also promises that the scholarship would extend to 60% if the student scores more than 80% in the board examinations. This university offers many courses at the undergraduate as well as post graduate levels. There are courses for Business and Management as well.

The University of Creative Arts is the highest ranking university with specialisation in art. Of their students, 20% are overseas students. It is one of the UKs top 5 universities for architecture and offers courses in many creative areas such as Acting and Performance, Art and Architecture.

Founded in 1900 by the Russell Group, the University of Birmingham has a history of educating some notable Noble Prize winners. It is ranked 76th in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. There are about 4,500 international students studying in the university. This university does provide an academic scholarship for international students.

The NCUK, a unique organization was founded by 11 leading UK universities. It gives the students a chance to study at one of these leading universities. The NCUK offers a range of pathway programs at the post graduate as well as the under graduate level. This university currently has 30 centers around the world, including one in India. Each centre is outstandingly equipped with technologies and teaching material that provide students with a safe and stimulating learning experience.

After all the representatives from the universities had given presentations about their courses, the students were allowed to move around and ask questions. The delegates very patiently cleared all their queries. The one to one interaction benefitted our students immensely.

This workshop was one of the many steps taken up by our School towards providing students with a better understanding of the world outside and the innumerous possibilities that are available to us, waiting only to be tapped.
