Visit to the Mughal Gardens- classes 7 and 8
An edutainment trip to the Mughal Gardens was organised for classes VII and VIII on 19th and 21st February, 2019. The bracing spring morning strung excitement and the children were impatient to set out. The venue of the Gardens and the myriad colours of Spring that the children were about to see were discussed beforehand by the teachers in the classrooms.
Built by Edwin Lutyens in 1917, the Mughal Gardens have a variety of flowers, each variety equally enchanting. This place boasts of 70 varieties of different flowers and 135 kinds of roses.
The children climbed into the buses and soon spotted India Gate and the Houses of Parliament enroute. The first stop was the Medicinal Garden where we learnt about the different herbs grown there and their medicinal values. Next, was the Bonsai Park where the children saw a varied number of hybrid trees. Soon after came the main Mughal Gardens where multiple rows of densely- packed Dahlias, Pansies, Tulips in varied colors of pink, yellow and red took our breaths away.

Numerous musical fountains played as the plants sucked in the supple sunlight. The Rose and the Circular Gardens were similar profusions of fragrance and flamboyant fauna.
There was a whole section dedicated to roses. This section had roses with different names and kinds. Some roses had very unusual names, such as Rose Eiffel Tower and Queen Elizabeth.
We then proceeded to see displays of medicinal oils, herbs, hybrid varieties of fruit and vegetables grown on the premises.
Finally, in the Spiritual Garden we saw varieties of lemon, mehndi, etc. It proved to be an excellent edutainment for both teachers and children.
The excursion gave us the much needed break from the stress of the exam season!
