Visit to the Post office by Pre- primary
On a bright sunny Wednesday, 17 April, 2013, the Pre-Primary children were taken to the local Post Office. 6 teachers, 3 didis accompanied the children in 4 buses. The children were extremely excited to embark on the excursion. They were briefed ahead of the trip, inside the classroom about the working of the post office and the 'story of the letter' was narrated to them.
At the venue, the children were taken around and patiently shown how letters are sorted as well as what else the post office provides. They were introduced to the Post Master or the head of the post office and told what all he does. They felt very important ( and justifiably so!
A few of the children had carried envelopes and they stuck a stamp each and enthusiastically dropped them in the letter box.

This excursion was an attempt to make the children aware of the old, yet humble mode of communication, fast getting forgotten in todays digital world. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by the children whilst being a learning experience for them.
