Year-end Pre- primary picnic at Lodhi Garden
We decided to end the session with a big class-picnic outdoors especially as the Spring was upon us. So the entire Pre- primary section set off for
Lodhi Garden. A park generously spread over 90 acres, it contains the tombs of Mohammed Shah, Sikander Lodi etc respectively named Sheesh Gumbad and Bara Gumbad. Interspersed with tombs from the 15th and 16th centuries, the garden is prolific with flora and fauna.
The children were very excited at the thought of the last excursion of the session. We left School at 8.30 to reach by 9.15.
Soon we alighted and entered. The cool breeze was welcoming even as the trees showed- off their fresh foliage. The children were rearing to run about, but we collected them in groups and followed the trail.

The children were told the names of the numerous flower and fruit trees we passed. Fresh fragrances from the fauna also wafted our way and we enjoyed identifying them.
There were ducks noisily nestling in the pond even as the breeze crimped the water. Other birds especially parrots played in the trees.
We found a sunny spot and decided to settle down for games. We played Hop- Scotch and the Queen of Sheba. Some children even played independently. The general instinct was carefree.
Soon a packed snack and a fresh fruit offered appetite and the children ate hungrily.
This excursion seemed achieve it 's object of teaching the children to explore and indulge as a group. This hugely helps social development especially amongst the more introverted children. Besides they build a respect for nature.
On the way back the bonhomie on the bus was infectious. Each one was trying to get heard on what he/ she liked the most in the park ! And a repeated appeal to visit the place once more soon.
